Hey listen gang. It’s the holiday season and it also winter and although it’s been pretty mild so far, there are people all over with no place to live, not enough food or warm things to ware. Even some families with kids that will have do without gifts for Christmas this year. Some time we’re so caught up in our own lives that we don’t take a minute to look around us to see if we can do something to help even just one of these people out with a warm coat, hat, pair of gloves, food or a simple toy for some kid that may miss out this year. If your not in the position to give of money or things there are shelters all over in every town that are there to provide a warm place for folks less fortunate to get a warm nights sleep and a hot meal that can always use an extra pair of hands around this time of year. So ask around your local churches, do a web search for organization in your area and offer to lend a hand and get involved, it can be very rewarding and who knows, you may even be bummed about the way things may be going in your own life and you’ll get a chance to realize that maybe you don’t have it all that bad. Even if you have kids, Bring them along ( as long as there not crazy little sob’s ) It helps teach them kindness and compassion for others. For the past 20 years or so my daughter and I have lent our hands and time in shelters, soup kitchens and churches doing food and blanket runs to the city and whatever is needed and it’s really brought us full circle with our own lives. Some times all that’s needed of us is to spend a little time talking to the guest at the shelter to make them feel like there a part of the community ( which they are ) Tell them a lame joke, put a smile on there face if even just for a moment. I’ve met people there from all races, all walks of life, male, female, kids, teens. Some of them are victims of circumstance, some fall victim to some kind of addiction or even just a simple “Bonehead” decision that forced them out into the street ( most people have experienced at least one, if not all of these things throughout our lives, I know I have ) so there’s no need to judge but there is a need for help. So roll up your sleeves, pack up your kid’s, Hell, bring the dam dawg with ya but get involved. These are tough time for all of us but there’s power in numbers so get on with it and who knows, you may even score a few good karma points to boot. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Kwanzaa, or whatever your havin over at your place }:o)
Peace along the way
